Hello,

My name is Mike Shockley and I own Cloud Custom Mattresses. We make custom mattresses for RVs and Campers with Serta out of Detroit. At every RV Show I have been at or hosted I get Truckers asking for better mattresss for their Rigs. I have met with Serta and we have a partnership where we will make custom, high quality mattresses for Trucks. They are a combination of wrapped coils and high quality foam. Basically a mattress with the same quality as a home mattress but it fits perfectly in a truck. Is there any call for such a product? Serta has perfected it so it will be affordable and can be dropped shipped in a box.

Sorry to bother you guys but if you have any advice or suggestions please email me at Mike.shockleyproductions@gmail.com or feel free to call me at (231)-883-3861. If you think this might work I will take your suggestions and work with the engineers at Serta to implement them.

I will also start a Facebook Page.

Thanks,

Mike Shockley

Have you seen the Bostrom Serta mattresses? Not just cause I really want one but am waiting to be assigned a new truck... But thought that might be a good place to start or benchmark. Luxury is always a necessity when it comes to sleeping in trucks with an APU in it or large exhaust or a reefer. Put your lawnmower underneath your bed for a night to get an idea of what I mean.

Also truckmattress.com or bigrigmattress.com

Companies buy lots of mattresses all the time but I would imagine what your talking about would be bought by individuals and a smaller margin of them.

Reefer:

A refrigerated trailer.

APU:

Auxiliary Power Unit

On tractor trailers, and APU is a small diesel engine that powers a heat and air conditioning unit while charging the truck's main batteries at the same time. This allows the driver to remain comfortable in the cab and have access to electric power without running the main truck engine.

Having an APU helps save money in fuel costs and saves wear and tear on the main engine, though they tend to be expensive to install and maintain. Therefore only a very small percentage of the trucks on the road today come equipped with an APU.

Guess it depends on the truck. i have a sterns n foster lux estate twin xl that fits perfectly. bought it from a mattress store so i do have the luxury of a home mattress. my guess is either truckers are cheap and wouldnt pay the custom prices or they dont know their sizes. one of our forum members bought hers from an online site specifically for truck mattresses. her truck could not fit a twin xl. you would have to do the research on sizes.

also, my mattress is very thick..17in...so lifting the bunk is tougher than thinner mattresses. some trucks lift the bunk to turn it into a lounge therefore thinner mattresses are required.

hope this helps

I was given a new mattress for my truck 4 months ago its thin and already showing signs of compressing at the edge where you sit and I have rotated it a couple times already. A foam topped mattress would be nice as long as it didnt take too long to warm up in the winter.
