I read somewhere that some states require a CDL if the trailer is over 10k regardless of the truck or how much is on the trailer.
Actually, that would be true in all states. A combination vehicle with a trailer that has a GVWR of 10,001 pounds or more requires a CDL.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A vehicle with two separate parts - the power unit (tractor) and the trailer. Tractor-trailers are considered combination vehicles.
GVWR is the maximum operating weight of a vehicle as specified by the manufacturer, minus any trailers.

Hey I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this. I am looking to get a car hauler that is 14k and start doing auto transport. I read somewhere that some states require a CDL if the trailer is over 10k regardless of the truck or how much is on the trailer. Thanks in advance
