Will My Driving Record Keep Me From Joining Prime?

I am going to pull my driving record tomorrow from a few different states to make sure I know EVERYTHING that's on there. I want to be completely open and honest with Prime as I regard them as THE place to start. Here's what I know will be on those reports, I don't think anything else will trip me up.

10+ years ago minor fender bender 10+ years ago (around same time but not together) driving without insurance. Paid the $500 reinstatement and got license back. 4-5 years ago a speeding ticket for 7 miles an hour over I think. Paid ticket.

Within the last couple months my insurance lapsed on my car but its been parked. I'm pretty sure NC has suspended my license and I'll have to get that reinstated ($65 I think). I'll know for sure tomorrow.

I want to work for Prime so bad. Please tell me my dream isn't dead.

I don't think you'll have trouble, but the best way to find out is to contact a recruiter and be truthful with them.

I think they only asked the last 3 years for the tickets etc. so that stuff is good...but that suspension, whether just insurance or not, might not go over well. Protecting your CDL is important to Prime. they will ask repeatedly at orientation about stuff like that. just be truthful.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Everything looks fine but that suspension might not be good... Just make sure you mark EVERYTHING down on your application and again when you go to orientation. Honesty is a must! Good luck!
