I just can't stand when people, like the quote from the other site , blame everything for the down fall of the universe but except where it belongs. Sounds like that guy either could not handle trucking or somehow got himself into a position that no one else would hire him cause of driving record or some other reason and can't change companies. Older drivers speak of how things used to be good in trucking. They still are. What they don't or won't speak about is we are making the same wages as 30 years ago. $800 dollars used to go a long way and now it only goes about half that distance. That guy spent 15 minues pointing out what he thought was wrong or saying , without saying it directly, that he thought he was not making enough money but failed to give ANY helpful advice or say anything about how things could be fixed. From just this thread alone from some of the long time members of this site we know better. If we wanted to anyone of us could go to that site and pick apart his post and present a complete opposite view to his and shut him down completely but it's not worth it. Here is just an example that proves his post completely wrong..... Go to Craigslist and in the search area input any state you want or ALL the states and search the category Transportation and hit search. You will come up with to many jobs to count and that is just for driving jobs. And that does not even count the large companies that do not use that website. And he says there are no jobs. Yeah right. Back to top

It seems to me alot got to forums to read how to go truckin not to learn of what it really is. my advice is this read up on what it is not how to do it, my gramother used to say experience comes from doin something not reading something. in that sayin it means no matter how much ya read ya still have to do it to know how to do the task at hand. i can read a 1000 books on automotive bit until i get my hands dirty i wnt truly know what ive read. so read about what truckin is not how its done then if ya feel its for ya go for it get ur hands dirty. in the 1st mnth ull truly knw if its for ya or not.

Well, it could be worth it, cause right now, he`s just spreading lies, and no one there seems to tell him otherwise... Anyhow, you get the truth by having many feedbacks, not just from one person.
I wonder why he`s saying that tho, maybe he`s frustrated by something or someone? According to his profile he`s been a Trucker for 35 years, so he should know what he`s talking about...

It says he has been in trucking for 35 years in his profile?

So if I put in my profile that I own all the banks in the country I guess they owe me alot of back pay then cause its something I put in my profile.

An old saying comes to mind..... Believe nothing of what you hear and only half of what you see.

Did anyone try the Craigslist thing? What did ya see? To many jobs to count I would bet.

Anyone listen to the Road Dogg channel on satellite radio? Funny thing is if there are no jobs left in trucking why are there trucking companies advertising jobs EVERY break on the radio? That same guy I would bet does not know how to use a computer and IF he has a cell phone it's the size of a brick....hello 1980.

Agree with all that said about this subject. I can tell you from my experience being on that other site for about 4 monts that the particular person that is being quoted has something like 8,ooo plus posts and believe me they are about 98% negative. Putting down the schools, company sponsored training , contracts, trainers etc... and going after specific companies.

I could get more specific but no need to waste my time. Anyone that has done any research knows the ups and downs of the job and lifestyle. Take it with a grain of salt and look how many people can handle and enjoy this lifestyle and are making a living.

This person is just a plain old unhappy person in every sense of the way and will moan about anything and everything, not only about trucking.

Company Sponsored Training:

A Company-Sponsored Training Program is a school that is owned and operated by a trucking company.

The schooling often requires little or no money up front. Instead of paying up-front tuition you will sign an agreement to work for the company for a specified amount of time after graduation, usually around a year, at a slightly lower rate of pay in order to pay for the training.

If you choose to quit working for the company before your year is up, they will normally require you to pay back a prorated amount of money for the schooling. The amount you pay back will be comparable to what you would have paid if you went to an independently owned school.

Company-sponsored training can be an excellent way to get your career underway if you can't afford the tuition up front for private schooling.
