A natural driver...I am assuming you think you do not need training going by your post. Good luck if you do not go to a CDL school in fact bring a job....no training and no school = no job. Insurance companies will not touch you.

Yeah, unfortunately Guyjax is right - very few companies will hire a new driver who has not had legitimate training. Maybe you can't justify the cost of CDL training, but I'll bet if you asked the countless thousands of mothers driving around with children in minivans that you'll be sharing the road with, even with an oil job, and I'll bet they could justify it.
If I were you I would contact some companies you're hoping to work for and ask them what they'll require of you as far as training and experience. Some oil companies will hire inexperienced drivers, some won't. So you don't want to waste your time getting your CDL if you won't be able to find the job you're hoping for with it.

I'm working on getting my CDL for an oil job and have already gotten a permit. I couldn't justify paying for truck driving school. I'm a natural driver, but would really like to be able to ride around with a CO driver for a day or two to obtain a little more real world application.
Anyone care to help? I am happy to buy lunch, help load/unload, etc.
