Me and my wife (aka my team driver) are planning on moving from Pennsylvania to Georgia and was wondering if it's even feasible for a driver to contract their own company to help move them across the country. I understand that it would cost something, but how much is also what I'm curious about and I know I could just get a moving truck which will cost me 3-4 grand and I know it sounds like a crazy idea but this come about originally as a joke to my wife.
Welcome to Trucking Truth. Just ask your fleet manage or dispatcher about this. It's not that you are the first with this thought. Worst they may say is no.
Dispatcher:
Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager
The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
