Companies, Not Drivers, Avoiding Toll Roads

I always take the fastest - and not necessarily shortest - route to and from the consignee , often using toll roads. Never has my company complained about this. Time is money for day cab multi-stop runs. The faster I get to a consignee and back to base, the better chances of getting in an extra run.

Consignee:

The customer the freight is being delivered to. Also referred to as "the receiver". The shipper is the customer that is shipping the goods, the consignee is the customer receiving the goods.

Day Cab:

A tractor which does not have a sleeper berth attached to it. Normally used for local routes where drivers go home every night.

My Omni Tracks GPS wants me to take the blue route which is 28 miles shorter but has tolls (unknown amount...just says Paid as I go thru). While the bottom route is longer, it's about the same time and a brother in Crossville TN. So, yesterday I asked what the company prefers, longer but no tolls or shorter with 4 toll plazas. It doesn't matter (it's budgeted for) as long as I get to the receiver on time! With the bad weather in Wyoming, sitting in Lyman WY (exit 41), they routed me back to Salt Lake, down to US 6, down to Albuquerque and across I-40 that way...that added some miles and one day. The other driver who loaded at the same time last Thurs is delivering today.
