Hey, I would think the more things you can do the better the chances are that someone will give you a job doing something. If you can learn to work a new type of run and get some new certifications that might open up some new doors down the road, eh?
That's kinda what I'm thinking. I would be fun for sure. Right now I'm just waiting for the operations manager to make his decision. Only two trucks out of 100 will be set up this way, so the definitely want to make sure they out the right people in the positions.

They sold it yesterday. :( Gonna miss her. Been a good truck.
I've got a week left in it before I get "evicted" then a couple of different routes; get into another T800 (Mine was the oldest truck in the fleet. All the others are '12-'14 models with 20-60,000 miles on them.) and call it good, move into a T800 for a month or so until our new Peterbilts are delivered in March OR transfer to the pole division. The pole run is a new division just being started by our company. We have two new KWs coming in next week. They are set up for heavy haul and have knuckleboom cranes mounted on them. Instead of my usual pipeline right-of-ways, I'd run utility ROWs and unload and set power poles, up to 100' long. If they put me there, I'll have to go to "crane" school so I can be certified for the utility companies.
I should know the gameplan by the end of the week.
