Did you fail a DOT PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREEN - or one for a NON-DRIVING POSITION?
How many years of experience do you have PRIOR TO the failure? This factors in somewhat. Drivers with years of experience that do SAP , tend to have a better chance of getting back on the road, than newbies who show up at an orientation for training and FAIL.
Regrettably - we haven't heard of anywhere HERE ON TT, that got back in after a SAP. The ones I've heard about elsewhere, were experienced VALUABLE ASSETS, who had an OOOPS and were re-hired by their original employers after completing SAP.
For better or worse - there are (still) SO MANY APPLICANTS in the industry (both new and experienced) that most companies will take a PASS on a SAP returnee, based on RISK and the fact that they have to be STRICTLY MONITORED for a period of time after return (and it's just not worth the additional hassle).

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
If I had failed or refused a drug screen long ago, I would register in the fmcsa portal and see if they have that in your record, if they dont i would not bring it to their attention or enroll in a SAP program, it costs several hundred dollars and it is hard to find anyone to hire you once you've been in that program, the return to duty and follow up drug screens must be done by an employer unless you are an owner op, if you cant get hired, thats a problem
The CSA is a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) initiative to improve large truck and bus safety and ultimately reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities that are related to commercial motor vehicle
