Jamie my approach dealing with Walmart backhauls always begIns by reviewing the vendor BOL. The number of pallets together with the load weight should determine where to set your tandems and if it makes sense to scale.
Yeah, I reviewed the bills and looking back I don't remember it mentioning the amount of pallets, just listed all the products and nunber or cases and what not.
Of course I could have over looked it, but I'm scale backhaul loads in the future when it makes sense to do so.
I did turn the paperwork into Crete today and there was mention of getting reimbursed since I was only over on my axel weight and not gross weight, so I was able to fix it. If I do, that'll be great. Wasn't even expecting that considering it was totally my fault.
Tandems:
Tandem Axles
A set of axles spaced close together, legally defined as more than 40 and less than 96 inches apart by the USDOT. Drivers tend to refer to the tandem axles on their trailer as just "tandems". You might hear a driver say, "I'm 400 pounds overweight on my tandems", referring to his trailer tandems, not his tractor tandems. Tractor tandems are generally just referred to as "drives" which is short for "drive axles".
