Eric this is a topic many of us have a different opinion on. The mega carriers are mostly auto’s and continuing that way. Smaller companies often have a mix of both. Personally I believe learning a manual is a good thing and you are not limiting yourself. If you test in a auto you will have a auto only restriction on your license. If you learn in a manual you can drive either. You can always go back later if you want too, retest in a manual and get it removed.
Personally I prefer a manual. It is a personal choice. My gf went to school 2 years ago. She had the option to test in either one. I told her if she tested in the auto she would have to retest to get the restriction removed if she ever wanted to come to work for me.
Also the company has a mix of both. My truck went down and I borrowed a truck from them and it was a manual. I finished the load. A driver with a auto only restriction could not have done that.
Just a couple real world examples to think about.
Learn in a manual so can do either wth no restriction to your license

Hello,
I have two school options, one also teaches manual. Should I learn manual or is the industry mostly automatic?
Thank You!
