I'm trying to get into a trucking school and nobody will except me, because I don't have a within 3 yrs work history. But they will hire a felon? Makes no sense

Most want felonies to be more than 10 years old since the end of sentence. 3 years work history as far as I know is more of a home land security thing. Terrorists used trucks as bombs to attack the WTC and Ft Dix army post. They want to know where you have been nd what you have been doing. If you have school or disability records many companies will accept this.

Thank you for answering... I did have a disability and have records, but didn't want to be (discriminated against.) I thought I would be automatically turned away. I plan on getting a job either way to start my employment history up again but I'm not getting any younger for trucking and that's my passion right now

Discrimination comes in the form of being able to do the job or not. Companies don't care if you are green, purple or orange. As long as you can do the job.

Most disabilities are rejected due to the medications the person is on. If you are suicidal and extremely depressed. You are a danger to the public medicated or not because relapses happen. Lawsuits can destroy companies. And honestly it isn't worth risking your health.

If you have a shorter limb or something....as long as you can safely drive , turn the crank handle and climb into the trailers to secure the load....no one will care.

Just because someone is disabled doesn't mean they cannot do the job and just because they are disabled it doesn't mean they will get the job based on ADA either.

When it comes to this fear...you need to reveal on your DOT physical forms any and all issues ask for. I was asked about "any and all surgeries" so my pregnancy in 1994 was on the table.

Don't hide anything and be honest

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
