Location for an Over The Road drivers isnt important. Some companies require drivers to park the truck at a terminal when they go home if they live within 100 miles. Others allow you to park it anywhere that's legal with the land owners permission. I currently drive about 45 miles one way to work in my personal vehicle daily for my local job.
There is nothing wrong with CRST I just want to be sure you know they're strictly a team company. You and a likely new driver will be given the keys to a truck and that truck will typically be moving 20-22 hours a day. Some people love team driving others hate it. A common misconception is that you'll earn more team driving but we have members here driving solo that make the same or more as a team driver. The main reasons team doesnt appeal to me is my life is in someone else's hands. If they fall asleep behind the wheel or are unsafe I could die. I also have trouble sleeping in moving vehicles. Also, your income is dependent on your co-driver pulling their weight. All miles are split 50/50 regardless of what you did. If you drive 3000 miles in a week but your co-driver only does 1500 it can often lead to resentment. Same can be true when it comes to who drives day/nights, fueling, deliveries etc.
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Hello. I just recently registered in this site hoping to learn more about the trucking industry that I'm trying to get in. So this site recommend crst for paid cdl training and it seems this company is pretty far away from where I'm living right now. [I am currently living at Korea town LA] about 50 miles or more, it takes me about 1 hours or more to drive to get there. Should I go for this work? or should I search another company?
