I am about to take my permit test on the 29th of January 2021. Has anyone out there has done all of this with wilson logistics already? If have what all do I need to have done before I fly to Missoula to attend their training and then I will start driving otr with my mentor. I am looking for any advice about this company and how does all of this happen. And any advice on the weather will be like in February when I get there. Thanks and God Bless 🙏

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

From what I have read so far Wil-Trans , I think Wilson & Jim Palmer merged, both sounded like good companies to get on with. Good luck to you. I tried and could not get hired due to no verifiable work history.

Wil-Trans:

Darrel Wilson bought his first tractor in 1980 at age 20, but, being too young to meet OTR age requirements, he leased the truck out and hired a driver.

Through growth and acquisition, Wil-Trans now employs over 200 drivers, and has a long-standing partnership with Prime, Inc. to haul their refrigerated freight. The family of businesses also includes Jim Palmer Trucking and O & S Trucking.

I got my Class A CDL back in November with Wilson and they are a great company to start off with. I'm sure by this time you are with your trainer and getting some road miles before you head back to Missoula to take your exam. If I remember correctly they want you to get up to 30K-40K (Can't remember the exact amount?miles before then. Then you'll do your solo week by yourself. Usually what truck you do your solo in will be your truck. Keep me posted!
