Hey truckers, I am new to the trucking business and also new here in this forum. I have started trucking in the past 2 months. But recently I have noticed that the fuel economy of my second-hand truck is decreasing. So I decided to try and calculate fuel by myself. Tried to search online for a solution. found an optionfuel calculator online, I did get some idea of how can fuel be calculated. I just want to know more methods from all of you professionals, how I can maintain fuel economy.
You are asking for two things no? To calculate your mpg take down the milage or reset a trip meter when you fill up. Next time you fill up divide how many miles you went by how many gallons you used. That's your miles per gallon. Do that every time you fill, write it all down in a log and you'll have a running record of your mpg.
As far as maintaining fuel economy, lighter loads, fewer mountains and slower speeds.
