I don't think I ever had that exact thing happen but one time I was working for a company and they put me in my first Volvo. This was back in like the late 90's. Anyhow, that Volvo had a cab that sat on air bags to soften the ride. Most trucks only had air bags on the suspension, not the actual cab itself.
Well I pulled out of the yard, went down the road a bit, when around a curve, and OMG I thought I was rolling over!!!! The air bags on the suspension and on the cab were so soft that the truck leaned much further than any I had driven to that point. It scared the crap outta me!
It took me about a week to get used to that where I didn't think about it anymore. But that one moment - that instant when you're thinking, "OMG this is it!!!!!!" will rev your heart rate out of sight!!!
OH, I was thinking of "soft shoulders" of the fragrant, female type . . . you know the kind you lay your had upon and dream away . . . my bad . . .
It is the melting snow that you have to really worry about. When it melts it makes the shoulder softer.

It did snow less than a week prior.

Yup, the snow melt...and in the winter, the ground heaves and thaws...so its not firm until all the moisture leaves it. Keep the rubber on the asphalt is the safest bet.

You ever get that "uneasy" feeling that the truck is about to roll the minute that you pull off the road and onto a shoulder?
That is one feeling I never, ever want to re-experience EVER AGAIN.
I guess that is what happens to a shoulder after a snow plow has cleared the road many times over this past winter.
