JC I agree that promise stuff is all BS. Kim was also my recruiter and she did me right as well. Jake is probably just new. Kim's last name is Calhoun. I also know they are trying to find all the flatbed drivers they can. They seem to be in short supply from what I'm hearing. I'll stick with my van dedicated though.

I'm glad to hear all these good comments about Kim Calhoun at Roehl. She's the recruiter I've been dealing with and I'm going to start my CDL training there next month. I'm really excited about it. I was originally supposed to train for PAM but they just didn't give me a good feeling. Roehl sounds like a better fit for me.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Don't let your first impression of a company only come from one person. That one person at PAM does in no way reflect an entire company.

Perfect example..... Some of my postings here are kind of harsh and extremely hard nosed on certain topics. That's simple because I have learned through hard won experience certain aspects of trucking that maybe different experience for someone else. If that was the first post you read and did not see any other post on this site you might have ran for the door and not looked back but luckily enough I have had enough people back me up on what I say to give what I say credit and prove what I say is believable.

Point is if I was your only experience here on this site you and others might not have stuck around to see my advice and the advice of other people here on the site. So don't let one recruiter at a company put you off from the entire company.....
