How long are you considered a student driver? What’s the typical time out and back?
You are in school for 3 weeks, then 3 days orientation then out with your trainer for 21 days. Then you get a shot to upgrade to your own truck.
Once you get your own truck, you can ask your FM to send you home for a couple of days to set your truck up. It may take a week to get you there, but they will.
I usually stay out 6 to 8 weeks then go home for 6 or 7 days.

Fm:
Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager
The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
