Today I finally started at Werner. I was really excited so I wasn't sleep really well from the night. I went to the Werner facility 30 minutes early. They have new and really good facility in here Easton PA. It seems like they also have really good training going on but I would see if it is really good or not in upcoming days. Tomorrow they will do skill evaluations for all the students. I hope I would be successful on these. Today was first day of my new life...

Hello,

That was really intense week! They gave my my new trainer and he was working for Dollar Tree account. I didn't know that you need to unload 4-5 thousand boxes one by one! There was basically 15% driving and 85% unloading. I am ok with working but that didn't make any sense so I called my recruiter to change my trainer to my preferred account which is Dollar General. Thankfully recruiter was really helpful and she found me new trainer in Dollar General account in West Virginia. I drove to West Virginia almost 8 hours and met with my trainer. I was scared first what if new trainer is a bad person and I would need to quit again in 3 days!! Thanks God He is really nice person. Clean, organized, knowledgeable. Dollar General account is not easy too but at least it doesn't take 5 hours to unload only one store. Also I am able to practice my backing and driving more often. Right now I am at the hotel resting for the new week. I am so happy things worked out.

Best Regards

Hello Everyone,

I am from Turkey and I came to the USA 4 years ago.

I am going to start my training at Werner on September 28th and I would share my experience along the way!

Hello Bora, Your life experience is such an inspirational one. To move to a completely different country and then in a relatively short period of time change professions entirely ... That is some serious courage. I haven't read any other messages in this thread, so I am expecting to read how well things are going at Werner.

So awesome to read that things are going well for you. I am also glad to hear that you were able to change accounts easily. Not all companies are willing to be so accommodating. It's awesome when a company is supportive of a driver's needs/desires. Please keep the updates coming. I can't wait to read when you get your own truck.😎

Thank you so much for your kind words. There will be 10 more days in the training and I would be getting my own truck. I am really excited about all the situation right now. I hope everything will work out and I am hoping that everyone else would reach whatever makes them happy

Howdy again, Bora!!!

I'm not sure I could be of any help regarding a Florida Walmart/Werner account; I'm here in Ohio to stay, now. We get 'offers' via Email for that account 'here,' (in Ohio,) but my guy is on a regional/intrastate gig, hauling paper/cardboard products for Int'l Paper, so he's not looking to change.

I'm sure once you finish your training, you can discuss those accounts with your DM/Fleet Manager(s.) I'd ask, if I were you!! Our guys on here hauling WalMart dedicated routes (ie: PackRat drives for Crete on a WalMart dedicated based out of Cheyenne or thereabouts) are VERY happy; Turtle drives for WMPF, now...after starting with Prime flatbed division a few years back. WalMart IS a great gig, if you can get it.

Wish you the best; still following!

Dedicated Route:

A driver or carrier who transports cargo between regular, prescribed routes. Normally it means a driver will be dedicated to working for one particular customer like Walmart or Home Depot and they will only haul freight for that customer. You'll often hear drivers say something like, "I'm on the Walmart dedicated account."

Regional:

Regional Route

Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.

Intrastate:

The act of purchasers and sellers transacting business while keeping all transactions in a single state, without crossing state lines to do so.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Fleet Manager:
