If someone is in doubt if they will pass the test, they should pay a clinic to do a private out of pocket test first, before they take the company's test

This is absolutely TERRIBLE advice. You wanna know why? Cause if you fail...not only will you have to admit to failing the test, but if you lie, the trucking companies often find it anyway. We have seen this happen countless times and it turns into someone saying they never thought the test would be found. And lying on a federal form is a felony.

Just wait as long as possible. I would honestly wait a year, but that is me. Not that I would ever do drugs anyway.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

The longer you have used and the bigger you are, the longer it takes in general. Sorry to hear about your student, hopefully she learned from it and is moving on best she can.

Good to hear. Congrats

I recently had a potential student who was confident she would pass. She smoked for 15 years and was overweight. She "waited as long as the net said to".... Then called me crying.and hysterical. Length of time could depend on your metabolism, weight, and long term use.

I'm not a lawyer and certainly a company could still find a result(unless maybe you got a CVS mail in kit and used someone else's name) but according to the cfr on it

"(j) As the employer, you must also ask the employee whether he or she has tested positive, or refused to test, on any pre-employment drug or alcohol test administered by an employer to which the employee applied for, but did not obtain, safety-sensitive transportation work covered by DOT agency drug and alcohol testing rules during the past two years. If the employee admits that he or she had a positive test or a refusal to test, you must not use the employee to perform safety-sensitive functions for you, until and unless the employee documents successful completion of the return-to-duty process (see paragraphs (b)(5) and (e) of this section)."

So as you may fail a test you performed you wouldn't be lying to say you never failed a pre-employment drug screen as it was done for your own purposes, no?

Not even trying to say they should go that route just that as I'm reading it you don't need to disclose any tests you performed on yourself.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

You're fine. Unless you are morbidly obese, your body will have long since metabolized it.

I had this same dilemma back in 2016 when I tried getting a job with AAA. I don't partake under normal circumstances, but found a job a really wanted and it was six months dated from the time I had a few puffs. I worried about the same thing and passed.

It goes without saying that, once you are employed, do not take any chances. If I have so much as a single beer at the lounge, someone else drives. And I do not ingest anything I would want coming up in any kind of test. Because once the clearing house pops you, good luck.

That said, I would be shocked if this one incident came back to haunt you.

So I am going through Roehl for the GYCDL program. I was honest and let my recruiter know, I had eaten an edible while in Oregon visiting my sister in early May. I took My hair follicle and urine test Monday. Its Friday. Am I in the clear? Would they had called by now? My recruiter said no news is good news, but I need confirmation.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
