I knew this would turn into another rabbit hole as more details and tidbits of information emerged from the OP.
I've had ( and defeated!) cancer three times and never felt the need for the marijuana crutch, the overprescribed pills, or alcohol to drown my sorrows to "help me get over it." CDL and drugs don't mix. Period.
