Hello, I am moving to Illinois soon and was hoping that someone here has some information to help me out. I see that I will have to redo all of my CDL testing. Will they let me use the truck I am driving for the pretrip, skills, and driving test ( I have been driving an auto for 4 years so I will be quite rusty on a strange manual)? Also, when I go in to get the written exam done, will they issue me a learners permit and make it to where I can not do my job for 14 days or more (which could get me fired from my fleet, and possibly lose my truck from not paying for it)?
I am hoping that I will be able to take the written exams and then go straight to the driving part, or be doing my job while I wait the 14 days to take the driving portions.
Any information on this will be helpful. I really do not want to lose my job just because IL has a strange rule.
