Sorry to hear that Pelican but…it’s ok!! Learn from your first attempt so you can pass on the second. I also didn’t pass on the first try. I passed pretrip and backing but failed on the road test for missing a shift and coasting too long in neutral while I tried to get it back in gear. Funny thing was I was one of the best shifters in class and the worst shifter in class passed on his first try lol. It happens, no sweat.

You’ll get it, it’s just another day. I have faith in you!

Thank you, I really appreciate that.

The good news is that I had the maneuvers down well. I was able to put the trailer into the box each time without much drama. Just the little rules about where to park and such are what got me.

The lead instructor of my school just quit today, leaving just the other instructor to do everything. So I'm not sure.

The other instructor said he will talk to me on Monday regarding retesting.

Very common to have to do the test twice, I know you’re disappointed, but it’s not something to fret about

When I tested in Wi, we also had to get the DOT bumper in the box. However, we were allowed multiple GOALs if we needed them and encouraged to make use of as many as necessary. I don’t know about other states, but the test was over only when the driver blew the horn.

The best backer in the class failed his first attempt because he was several inches too far back. Easily remedied if he had gotten out and looked before he blew the horn. He was good and he knew it, but he was also over-confident.

You’ll get it next time. How soon can you re-test?

SAP:

Substance Abuse Professional

The Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) is a person who evaluates employees who have violated a DOT drug and alcohol program regulation and makes recommendations concerning education, treatment, follow-up testing, and aftercare.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

TWIC:

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.
