My names David. I'm 60 years old and was put on disability a few years back. Now I know that truck driving is a tough job And I'm not looking to long haul, Although wouldn't be opposed if asked. I just want to get my CDL to open to open more Doors. I love to drive and have a clean record.. I'm old fat but not afraid to work.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Hello David. Go for it, you are not too old to get started. You can get a lot of guidance and help right here from other drivers and trainees. A number of us started out later in life pursuing a second career. Don’t hesitate to ask questions.
