Robert, I started out with dry van and then switched to reefer. I’ve been very happy on the reefer side and the work has been steady and constant. But that is mainly because I drive for a well established, well run company. It is JS Helwig out of Terrell, TX but you need at least 6 months of recent experience to get on with them.

But right now, a job in any type of driving is a good thing as you gain experience.

Dry Van:

A trailer or truck that that requires no special attention, such as refrigeration, that hauls regular palletted, boxed, or floor-loaded freight. The most common type of trailer in trucking.

Reefer:

A refrigerated trailer.
