Get it out of your mind that you need to be close to a terminal. Be prepared to live on ramen or cup of noodles for a few weeks.
Get out of your own way, and apply everywhere that trains.
I have a difficult time believing that EVERY mega has said no to you.
Hi NaeNaeInNC.
I should have thought of this earlier. You live in NC, so I'm assuming you got training while you were an NC resident.
Would you mind telling me who you got training through? I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
I went with Prime. I had about $100 in my pocket, was given a car rental for 24 hours, and a start date in Pittston PA. I'm coming up on 3 years with Prime.

Hi NaeNaeInNC.
I greatly admire your intestinal fortitude. I just gotta go for it. I'm making a ton of Facebook Marketplace ads today and trying my best to sell everything. I really only have 1 last big ticket item; an LG washer & dryer set. I bought it 2 1/2 years ago on a Black Friday sale. Paid almost $1,700 for them. I don't mind losing money on them, but at the same time I don't want to give them away.
I still have to make it crystal clear to my wife that I gotta do what I gotta do. I've told her, but it doesn't seem to be sinking in. She's still looking for a job and I know we're past that point now. She'll probably leave again, but that would be her doing what she's gotta do, I guess.
Anyway, Prime Inc. does sound like a solid option. I'll definitely make a final choice soon.
Thanks!

Hi NaeNae,
I hate to keep bugging you, but on Prime Inc.'s site it says:
Be able to obtain a U.S. Passport, a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card, and a Hazmat Endorsement.
Would I need that to get into their training program or do they mean further down the road (no pun intended)?
Did you have all that when you first started?
If you're not sure if I need that just to join, I'll give them a call tomorrow. I was busy trying to sell all of my stuff today.
Thanks!
Explosive, flammable, poisonous or otherwise potentially dangerous cargo. Large amounts of especially hazardous cargo are required to be placarded under HAZMAT regulations
Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.
Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

I know. I know. There's something else I didn't mention and it's making things a little more difficult. I've got someone coming over to get something I'm selling, but you can look at my most recent comment I sent to Davy. Thanks for your advice and comments.
