Hi folks! You guys and gals are the experts on trucking so wanted to reach out to get your thoughts on waste collection and hauling.

I have a few clients in the Bay Area that run factories which generate a lot of waste from cut material on the order of a few truckloads per week. In the past, that waste would’ve gone to landfill but now there’s a recycler in Oregon who intends to make it worthwhile to haul it. I’m trying to get some idea of the best way to haul and rough idea of the cost to make it worthwhile for everyone involved and something that could be repeated in the future. Here are the questions I have, but let me know if I’m not asking a question I should be or if you have any suggestions that my question don’t cover:

1) is there an obvious way to use empty trucks leaving Bay Area cities to take it to Portland?

2) are there any companies we ought to reach out to for quoting?

Many thanks in advance for advice! 🙏

Grace, I think your questions are outside the purview of this forum.

For example, you don’t say what the product is. The type of trailer you would need is dependent on the specific product in question. It would take a person very knowledgeable about the local business workings of transportation in your area to advise you. We are mainly a group of company drivers here, not business consultants. It sounds like you are considering this opportunity from the ground up and you will need a solid business plan and a specialized consultant.

Always good to see something recycled instead of going to a landfill, so good luck with your venture.
