Hello. I’m interested in applying for a paid CDL program. I’m not financially prepared to make the investment, but I think the trade off is extremely generous for such a valuable skill. I’m worried about my safety. I’m not opposed to rooming or training on a truck w a male, and I’ve had pretty rough warehouse/construction/janitorial jobs…I also worked at Walmart three years, and for Postmates which gave me a good idea of navigating all road conditions. I’m not sensitive about jokes I don’t like or comments. It’s easy for me to smile and ignore for an easy time. I will get furious about sexual attention from coworkers or trainers. I need to learn and I do not play about driving safely. Driving is an all around privilege. I want to give you an idea of my personality and expectations before I ask…. What companies did you work for that accommodates you fairly? Do you get hotels with a man? I hope not, but if it’s what I have to do, I can suck it up for the CDL. I was hoping training w a male OTR for weeks would be cool. I’m not that picky, but did any of you have a problem with that? I’m used to rough work and language and even racism and misogyny. Just don’t touch me or try to hold my CDL over me through some bs. This is a real concern because I need to sleep and honestly learn. I’m excited to hear from you and thank you for reading and or responding.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Hello and welcome! Both NaeNae and I drive for Prime. We have almost 1500 women which makes up about 18% of our fleet... double the national average.

We have an annual woman's gala... awards.. a facebook support group and a "female driver liaison" to help with all the struggles women may have. If you watch my video below... i map out the greatness of prime for women. We even have a doctors office in the terminal that will give pap smears and write sctipts for mammograms. A chiropractor and sooo much more. The gala videos have interviews of women prime drivers, the safety director and the owner of Prime himself.

No! You will not room with a man. You will be asked if u will accept a male/female, smoker/vaper/non smoker trainer.

If you werent nervous, it would mean you are stupid. Nervous is good. It means you respect the difficulty this may be. Not because of your sex but because moving a 75 foot long vehicle is difficult at first.

I even have a Discord group for my students.... some have 5 years someare still in team training. But they all feel supported.

If someone touches you they WILL be fired. Period.

This first video is particularly inspiring because this woman went to a local school for 5 months and still couldnt back. I put her through my course and the video is her exam day reaction. It is so excuting to see it. One of my students did a cartwheel on the pad when she passed.

If you look though my youtube channel, i have videos of our amazing terminals that even have spas! You can get a massage and a facial after a steam shower. I will never leave this company. I am spoiled. My email is truckingalongfun@gmail.com. i can answer all of your questions in a phone call.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
