I just got my Class A CDL and landing my first job seems impossible. Part of it appears to be my location (Miami FL) but I would be willing to relocate to another city for further training but it would have to be paid training since I already have my class A. The possibility seems endless in this profession but no one will hire a without some experience. But how do I get this experience. I will drive anything anywhere. I have applied to most of the paid training CDL programs but I hear same thing not hiring in your area. I’m willing to briefly relocate.

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

I'm new myself, so I don't have any answers.

You will get more though if you post to the general discussion board if you already haven't. That board gets more traffic than this one.

You'll get more responses by posting this in the general section.

In general thought, not a lot of freight leaves Florida and the trucking industry as a whole right now is in the most severe crash it's ever experienced. We're over capacity on trucks and drivers. It's going to be difficult at best for a while to land a job with no experience when even seasoned drivers are having trouble
