Brett that would be for the company sponsored training also I feel dumb asking such simple questions

Company Sponsored Training:

A Company-Sponsored Training Program is a school that is owned and operated by a trucking company.

The schooling often requires little or no money up front. Instead of paying up-front tuition you will sign an agreement to work for the company for a specified amount of time after graduation, usually around a year, at a slightly lower rate of pay in order to pay for the training.

If you choose to quit working for the company before your year is up, they will normally require you to pay back a prorated amount of money for the schooling. The amount you pay back will be comparable to what you would have paid if you went to an independently owned school.

Company-sponsored training can be an excellent way to get your career underway if you can't afford the tuition up front for private schooling.

We don't have an application system setup specifically for the company-sponsored programs. Some of them are in our regular application system that I gave you links to, others you will have to apply to directly from their company websites.

I filled out application thinking it was for cdl sponsored companies and clicked apply to all now I am getting all kinds of calls where they think I am ready to drive but did not go to school yet don't have a cdl have to explain my situation to all these recruiters can I fix this problem and have them stop calling none of them were cdl sponsored are any of them cdl sponsored what a mess I got my self in all I wanted to do was apply to some companies so I can get this ball rolling

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Well there's no way to "unapply" to the system unfortunately. The companies that are calling are able to see that you have no experience so they figured you're looking for a pre-hire letter before attending an independent truck driving school.

what a mess I got myself in

rofl-3.gif Well I'd say it's a good mess, anyhow. I mean, there's about 50 million Americans that would kill to have even one company call and offer them a job. Well at least you know the demand for truck drivers is real!

I wouldn't sweat it. The calls will stop coming soon. But in the meantime you can go to the websites of the Company-Sponsored Programs and apply to each of them.

Pre-hire:

What Exactly Is A Pre-Hire Letter?

Pre-hire letters are acceptance letters from trucking companies to students, or even potential students, to verify placement. The trucking companies are saying in writing that the student, or potential student, appears to meet the company's minimum hiring requirements and is welcome to attend their orientation at the company’s expense once he or she graduates from truck driving school and has their CDL in hand.

We have an excellent article that will help you Understand The Pre-Hire Process.

A Pre-Hire Letter Is Not A Guarantee Of Employment

The people that receive a pre-hire letter are people who meet the company's minimum hiring requirements, but it is not an employment contract. It is an invitation to orientation, and the orientation itself is a prerequisite to employment.

During the orientation you will get a physical, drug screen, and background check done. These and other qualifications must be met before someone in orientation is officially hired.

Hey Enrico, go directly to the individual companies' website and fill in their applications . . . you can do it once and have them email you a copy of a completed app and then use it as a template to fill out others - many seem to use the same software/format. Then follow up immediately (well, you CAN wait a day or two) and tell them you applied online. The recruiter (you have to ask to speak to a recruiter - if you apply at Prime, ask for Tabitha Smith at x 6658) will go over your application and ask for any missing info or clarifications on certain facts. It is really a very effecient process. If you qualify, they will line you up for a training class with their company - they all seem to have one starting each Monday. Note: Make sure you have a COMPLETE three year work & unemployment history with all pertinent phone numbers and contact names. For self employment be prepared to have someone send a letter (notarized) explaining that they certify that you were accurate/honest. Also, at Prime, when we got to training they wanted five years of work history - 2 additional years over the three they require on the online application. Also, honesty is a MUST and if there is some aspect of your past that looks like it is a deal killer, going over the situation with the recruiter will clarify your options and give the recruiter a chance to help you make it right. Worth all the time involved. It's cool have three or four companies asking you to come to work for them, at least it was a real ego booster for me after the looks I've gotten ("What, I got three heads or sumthin'?") while out looking for work. No one wants an old fart with so many millennials out of work and looking for that fat $10 per hour starting position ("Does that job come with a company Beemer??")

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
