Well, if it anything like AL, you have to have the DOT physical first. Because you have to have both to drive with a licensed driver, they wouldn't have any way ensuring you can drive when you pass the written tests first. Try calling them on the phone (if they answer the phone ) and see what they expect you to bring with you when you take your tests.

Ok thanks. i didnt want to go to the dmv and waste a day in the line only to find out i need that for my permit. the website does say specifically i have to have it for the license but dosnt say if i need it to get my permit.

I would call to be sure, like you said you don't want to waste your day. You can also go online, make an appointment, will save you hours sitting and waiting. I downloaded the trucking CDL study program to my Android and studied while waiting. Helped me pass with a very good score. : )
