I'm in the state of Texas and have a class C with a hazmat endorsement. Where Can i find the commercial rules Q&A info in the CDL manual

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

HAZMAT:

Welcome aboard Lloyd!

I'm sorry but I'm not sure what you're referring to by "Commercial Rules Q & A". What exactly are you trying to lookup? I'm sure we can help you find it.

I was told by the Txdps department i must pass the commercial rules, pre trip and combination test in order to obtain a Class A LOFS( which i also have no idea what this means) I can find everything except the commercial rules info.

Thanks Brett, your website has been very helpful for someone new to the industry and has already help me pass general knowledge and hazmat.

Hello, I have a questions... I live in Indiana, but I'm moving to Kinston, North Carolina at the end of June. I've started the process to attend RoadMaster school and class starts July 7th 2014. As soon as I get to NC I GUESS I need to go to the BMV and apply for NC OPERATORS? Or can I wait til I complete training? Also, would I be able to get my medical card while in Indiana and NC ACCEPT IT? I'm just trying to get a head start so I can focus on other things once I get my medical card and permit done?? What's the best course of action? Thanks in advance.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Bmv:

Department of Motor Vehicles, Bureau of Motor Vehicles

The state agency that handles everything related to your driver's licences, including testing, issuance, transfers, and revocation.

Since the whole CDL thing is federal, there isn't much difference between the states except small details as to WHERE you get the CDL. For example, I had my CDL-A Permit from Nevada (my home state - sorta) before I went to the Prime school in Springfield, OM. Once there, Prime wanted me to have my tanker endorsement BEFORE I hit the road with an instructor. I had to transfer my license/permit to MO in order to add the endorsement. When I get back to Springfield to take my CDL license test, I will have a MO License and will have to transfer it back to Nevada once I get back home. Each state MAY have some small rule different from others but they all recognize the license/permit from each other - once you get all the steps completed you can work out the details . . .
