Well I have known for awhile now that I was approved to attend the KLLM driving academy in a little over a week. I'm pretty nervous (which is normal I hear) and very excited. Although this may not have been my first choice, I believe this company is going to be a great fit for me. I have never been around reefers so that is certainly going to be interesting to learn all about. From what I have read, it seems KLLM is a pretty good company to drive for and has a great training program. I'm just ready to get started! I don't believe there any TT members that drive for KLLM so I may be the first and will try my best to put together a good CDL training diary as well as my other experiences.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Reefer:

A refrigerated trailer.

Hey Joshua, Congratulations!

Don't even worry about it not being your first choice. I ended up with my last choice and I'm still there living and loving the life. You know we had a guy named Tim on here for a while that went through FFE's training program just about the time that they merged with KLLM. He made a diary about his training, you might enjoy reading through it before you go.

Best of luck to ya, and keep us posted!
