Get a lawyer for this one, Man.

Defend your career potential like it's your baby. I'm not kidding. I just got told today, one top-paying company won't hire me ****il after I put in 6 months with a perfect record with another company first) because I got a couple of tickets, 4 and 5 years ago, for not having a registered vehicle, even though I finished at the top of my CDL class, a week ago. (I was broke from hard times -personal- and food in the fridge was more important, at the time.) The recruiter today, told me this was a reflection of my ability to obey the rules and walk a straight line. I had an 800 credit score before hard times, too. RRRRrrr. Unfair characterization, in my opinion.

Get a lawyer (or legal aid) and keep it off your permanent record ... Just my humble opinion. Ask Brett Aquila what he thinks, too.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

3MPH over - REALLY?

Get an attorney. While most speed traps are a "revenue scam", and ticket attorneys are also - better to keep a clean license and spend a few $$'s doing it - than risk a "no-hire" for a recent speeding ticket.

I can't believe they even write 3MPH over. In Florida - state law gives you 5 MPH over with no ticket (exception would be a school zone), and most won't write under 10 MPH over. A lot of the impetus behind the 5 MPH thing in Florida - was to "un-clog" the courts with people fighting "questionable speed" citations.

Before I got my CDL , I had "frequent flyer miles" with the best ticket attorney in Fort Lauderdale. Since I realize the value of my clean license - he doesn't see me any more.

Rick
