Dave - I am going back and forth can't make up my mind on if I want to go to a school on my own or go through a company school. But right now I am more focused on studying on this site once I complete this or am just about done then I will be a bit more focused on the schooling part.

Old School- Thank you, I will be sure not to be shy if I am stressing over something.

Crazy- so I am more than a day late on replying my apologies.

some of my fears ( the more personal fears) can take years if not a life time to get over but. Those just like my other fears I am going to push through don't you worry I will get my tiny booty in a rig and hopefully sooner than later.

This week has been pretty busy so not much studying been going on this week but ill be getting back in gear by Monday morning for sure!!

Brett- Thank you I will do my best to keep my grades up.

really ya don't have to worry bout the time it takes to answer something or just update its not a big deal, ya sound like ya are strong willed that is a good thing in trucking.I don't mean to come off strong with my words but like my ad which also drives would say if ur not strong spoken or stern with ur words ya want be taken seriously.so I won't sugar coat anything I say so plz if ya don't understand what I'm saying do ask.

ya will get over ur fears in do time they just take work I'm a slight paranoia myself due to personal reasons but I work through it,I drive hard due to the high adrenaline I get from the paranoia, which I mean if I stop to soon I can't sleep BC I keep thinking something can or will happen,so I exhaust myself so I fall right to sleep after dinner.

Amanda, if you want it bad enough, you can get it. It takes guts and determination, but its not out of reach for you. Study the High Road, get your personal and financial affairs in order. Then focus on finding the school you want. If its a company school, choose carefully, since you will be spending a year with that company. The process of becoming a truck driver is easiest when you break it down into units that you can focus on, and that you know you can accomplish. If the unit scares you, break it in half and look at it that way. Don't set your goals to far ahead, and son't set them above your ability. We're glad your here, and look forward to helping you attain your dream. This adventure will make you a good truck driver, a better person, and a mother and grandmother with the best stories ever !!!!!!

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

Crazy - I am a women of my word and when I brake my word even if it something as little as a late reply it may not bother you but it bothers me, I am sorry but that is who I am.

I really hope becoming a truck driver will help me push through my more personal fears. I know the feeling of having to exhaust myself to sleep ( sometimes a sleeping pill will do the trick and other times even after taking the pill I am to stressed to sleep )

I am a pretty laid back quiet gal but trust me I have no prob. Being blunt / straight to the point when i feel I am getting screwed over by one, .

Starcar- I am very determined to get out on open roads, I know the grass isn't always going to be greener on the other side and its going to be a lot of hard work and stress but I want it. I am done with these petty jobs I been taking over the years where they promise you have room to grow and move up in the company and promise you a raise and good benifits if you become full time and 5 years later still be in the same spot not full time cause they make excuses and your still with out benifits you know the important ones like medical 401 K .. at least with trucking your full time and get good benifits with it. I am done having to work 3 part time jobs just to barely pay my rent phone bill and I'd say insurance but as of a few months ago I no longer have a car do to a wreck a I had :-( now that insurance money quickly became bus fare. I love driving my boyfriend is excited for me too and he helps me study ( I made flash cards and he will at random spit out a question to quiz me it is awesome to have one person I am close to too be suporting my career choice and helping me achieve my goal.)

I wish I could spill all of the reasons of my decision for wanting to drive a rig just know I am strong willed and determand to do this and I will even proudly annouce when I go to take my test for the permit Driving means the world to me, I don't care if i am driving 5 min away or 10 hours away I love it. I been driving since I was 15 been taking long road trips since i was a baby and I already have a ton of wild true storys of things I have seen and done. From cops pulling me over to just random funny scarey odd **** out on the road. I am poss. all truckers have tons of great funny scarey odd wierd true storys about the road too I'd like to add to mine.

Well boys I have wrote quit a bit prob to the point of rambeling it is 2 30 am and I have church at 8 am so I am calling it a night. Have a good Sunday ( I will be back on Monday morning studying hard )

Goodnight /morning

Mandy

Us girls need to stick together! I cant say that I am going into this without the normal fears because that would be lying but from the advice I have gotten here and the reading it has really helped me to gain more confidence. I have driven a stick and I have been in a big rig and that doesn't mean jack because these companies want to teach you the right way. Negativity will cause you to drop out.. I told everyone in my circle that you say one negative word consider me gone!! I cannot afford for someone to say something and it to stick in my head I am determined to do this and I WILL at all costs! Welcome aboard and we will do this together!

Amanda, you may need to try and get off the sleeping pills...I don't think you can take them while in the truck. I also take them to sleep when I'm home, so I know where your coming from. The longer i'm awake the more panicked I get, that I won't be rested enough the next day to do what I need to do...its a vicious cycle. You may want to check into all natural melatonin...I have friends that swear by it...it helps with your seratonin levels so you can get into and stay in the Rem sleep cycle, which is where you rest the best. So get that little problem fixed, and your ready to go !!!

Starcar- I kind of figured that I wont be able to use sleeping pills while on the road. I don't take them with me on my long road trips just because I feel they can be unsafe, I use them at home only from time to time. Thank you for informing me though. :-D

Sleeping pills don't really work all that well. You don't get the deep sleep that you need.

Hey Amanda! I was also in between going to a community college and a company school. I decided on a company school with Roehl mainly because I have heard very good things about the company and their training current drivers. Basically I wanted to tell you to go for it if it's what you want! I'm coming from a 14 year law enforcement career, and decided it was no longer for me. I can't wait to get behind the wheel and hit the open road! Good luck with whatever you decide!
