I stayed till the end and still failed the last test. I can back the rig up in the yard. But test day I choke. Had a lot going on at home. Should I try another co. And if so what ones ? Also they started testing me right away and I dident even know what I was doing.

Hi Mary W,

Everyone is not good with things the first time around. I had to take the first part of my training over because I didn't pass the basic skills test the first TWO times then and got a big fat F on my yard evaluation! I'm glad you didn't give up and will stick with it. Currently, I am a CDL student and don't have a lot of answers for you but, you may want to begin with where you are located. What company did you just leave (to save the redundancy)? How long was your training? What do you want to haul? I'm sure someone with more knowledge with chip in once you give us more info. Cole

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
