Correction: I chose 6 long-sleeve over the short-sleeve shirts ...
Awesome!!!!!! Go get um !!!!!. Congrats young lady you have done well. Oh and please tell my girlfriend your theory on long sleeve shirts. Lol . I ride a bike , and no not like Daniels. His is nice but I prefer 1100 +cc vice pedaling. I always wear long sleeve t-shirts for the very reasons you stated , however she just thinks I'm weird . But in a good way .

Go to Arizona. You'll never see the Native Americans out there, working in short-sleeves - even at 100+ degrees in the summer. They wear long-sleeves and big ten-gallon hats. It's not about the sunburn, per se, it's about preserving body-fluids and temperature by providing much-needed shade over your skin. You are cooler with long-sleeves in the desert.
As far as the uniform goes, I love the look. Long-sleeves, shirt hanging out, navy blue bermuda-type shorts, and steel-toed hiking shoes.

Yep, you guys have nice looking uniforms. I think the American flag is a great touch. Our city drivers are required to opt in to the uniform program. As a L/H driver I have a choice. Not sure if I'll opt in or not. To the very least, I'd like to wear a company ball cap. The only negative I thought of w/ opting in to the uniform is that I'd have to definitely make sure my uniforms are clean and ready to go. Wearing street clothes I don't have to make sure my company uniforms are laundered and ready to go. The uniform does bring some pride - I totally relate to what you're saying! We get our names embroidered on our shirts, along w/ "Linehaul" beneath. Pretty cool.
Linehaul drivers will normally run loads from terminal to terminal for LTL (Less than Truckload) companies.
LTL (Less Than Truckload) carriers will have Linehaul drivers and P&D drivers. The P&D drivers will deliver loads locally from the terminal and pick up loads returning them to the terminal. Linehaul drivers will then run truckloads from terminal to terminal.Eh, having six full uniforms, I just wash them all at once, as I did today. Pull them out of the dryer, hang 'em all up, and I have something clean to wear for every day of the week, this week. No hunting for clothes or matching pieces, just shower-dress-and-go. It's awesome. Do it.

Thanks MG. It 's a good one. I took a chance with this endeavor. I finally figured out how to change the avitar. I am not a high tech redneck. Lol
Well you're more savvy than I. Besides, my Con-way uniform matches my blue skin. It's all good. I'll just keep my same avitar avitar.

As uniforms go, Con-way's is by far one of the best looking, if not the best looking trucking uniforms out there. When ordering uniforms, I was given 6 shirts, 6 pants and a jacket-windbreaker and baseball cap. I chose 6 long-sleeve shirts over the long-sleeve because I hate getting sun-burned and I can always roll the sleeves up. In desert or high-desert, in the case of Colorado, you are always cooler wearing long-sleeves than short because the long-sleeve shirt offers shade. When choosing pants, I chose 4 sets of shorts and 2 pairs of pants for when it becomes unbearably cold but for the most part, I will be in shorts. With it being acceptable to wear my shirt outside my shorts and having chosen men's large long shirts (the women's sizes tend to run small in the shoulders), I am very happy with the long-sleeve button-down shirt with (long) shorts combination, shorty socks and steal-toed hiking shoes. It looks badass.
One day last week, I was out-an-about, running a couple of errands with one of my kids, after work, still in uniform. Having refused to compromise my femininity, I get looks everywhere I go because I think people are a bit taken aback by a female truck driver in company uniform. I worked hard to even get to go to trucking school, I worked hard to get my CDL , I worked hard to find a top trucking company and get hired by them, and I have to admit, in public, I feel very, very proud to be employed and working in this profession ...for this particular company. On the left shoulder of every shirt is sewn the words "Safety Professional" with an American flag and Con-way logo. We, on Trucking Truth are working towards a new, well respected generation of truckers and we're improving our image along the way. I'm glad to be part of this movement. It feels really cool. And as one of my instructors at CDL school said, we should be very proud of what we do. Not everyone can handle driving a tractor trailer. Not everyone can do it. It's hard to do and we should be proud of our accomplishments. I stood a little taller that afternoon, being stared at while standing in check-out lines and walking through stores, because I was thinking, "That's right people. I'm a trucker, working for a top-of-the-line freight company and I'm breaking all the rules on the trucker stereo-type, ... ...Baybeh!"
