I am new to this site and to trucking and I have to say this is the first site I came across as I was doing my research. This site has been a tremendous help and very valuable with loads of information and I am very thankful for this site. I have researched a lot about the company sponsored CDL schools as I have chosen this option to go. I have looked at all the different companies and I think Knight is my number one choice. Any information from any lady truckers who have gone through Knight's CDL school will be helpful. I do know I need to get my CDL permit before going to school. I am excited about this career change and love this website.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Hi Cole!! Thanks for welcoming me. I really have been enjoying reading the lady's forum and all the forums as well. The more I do research on Knight the more I am happy with my choice. I have applied at other companies but wanted to research more before making a decision. I will keep everyone posted on my progress. I am curious if there are any other ladies out there who went with Knight? Any insight would be great. I know they require you to obtain your permit before going to school so I am currently studying for the test. The trucking high road program has been a huge help ~ Ladybug ~

Thanx starcar. I will be sure to keep everyone updated on my progress the High Road Training program has been a huge help. I started going through it and have learned a lot already. The only thing I'm worried about is that Knight won't accept me because of my driving record. My record has been clean for 3 1/2 years but I have a couple things on there that were stupid mistakes. I guess I can always see what a recruiter says.

Hey ladybug,

Have you spoken to Knight yet? Depending on what you what to haul and what part of FL you are in, I have made up a list along the way of mostly tankers and a little bit of others that hire out of FL/GA area. Holla back if interested! Cole.
