Chris, Roadmasters has a great reputation, and you will certainly get lots of good exposure to driving in city traffic in that area. I was just in Fontana the other day. I went from there over to Long Beach, and back through Riverside on my way back over into Arizona.
Excited and nervous at the same time.
I remember those feelings very well - it really is a big rush learning to drive these gentle giants across the country. Pay attention and follow your instructors lead. Sometimes it may not seem like the best way to teach something, but they usually have a purpose behind their methods. They are going to do their best to get you to the point where you can pass the state driving exam, so that is what they will be focused on. Once you get out of school and start with a company trainer you will learn so much more - try to enjoy the ride even though it may be stressful at times. When you get those feelings of wanting to give up, just double down on your efforts and you will come through it. Everyone of us wanted to quit at some point in our learning experience, so don't be surprised if the urge to give up strikes you - just carry on and everything will come together for you eventually.
Electric APUs have started gaining acceptance. These electric APUs use battery packs instead of the diesel engine on traditional APUs as a source of power. The APU's battery pack is charged when the truck is in motion. When the truck is idle, the stored energy in the battery pack is then used to power an air conditioner, heater, and other devices

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager
The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
