Ok I have been in my career for 30 years. Need a change. My friend tells me he use to drive OTR and made good money and was very little stress. I need honest answers . My background and driving record is spotless. Is there a chance for me to make a minimum of 60,000 a year then when she is ready bring my wife on and make more

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Bill, welcome aboard!

You won't be able to make sixty grand your first year, but a person who is a go-getter can have that kind of earning potential after a few years. I would never describe the job as one that has "very little stress". Don't get me wrong, I love this job, but there are so many malcontents in this industry that I think you would have to say that the stress of it is overwhelming for some. Of course many people bring their own stress upon themselves through false expectations and unrealized successes. What one man considers stress another may consider a healthy challenge, so the way you approach this career has a lot to do with how much stress you have to deal with each day.

Trucking companies love husband and wife teams, so yes you could have your wife come along and drive with you and your earning potential together would be in the 100,000 dollar range once you get yourselves established.

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
