Well everyone.. it's been awhile since I have been on here. Hope everyone is doing as well as I am!

Overall it's going well. I'm sitting tonight because of a breakdown. Yay me? Well this has given me a bunch of extra time to check up what's going on on the form.

I'm doing very well. Loving life and loving it out here working the oil rigs. I am really starting to understand my place and what it takes to get this job done. Biggest thing was the learning curve.. since I made the decision to jump right into the oil rigs instead of OTR I really didn't get the benefit of a trainer. I got a whole 3 days of training and most of that was learning how to unload product and how to get in/out of the oil sites. Everthing else was pretty much left up to me. Thankfully since I have a decent head on my shoulders and with the invention of the Internet (YouTube has taught me a ton about trucking.) I have been able to "fake it till I make it." Not saying I'm all the way there.. since you seem to learn something new everyday in trucking but i am doing pretty dang well. Most people are shocked when I say I have only been doing this for just under 2 months. I have recived several calls from my boss letting me know that someone called him and told him what a good job I have been doing out here.. anyone from fellow coworkers to personal on the well site have called and told him I'm a good hard worker. This has really boosted my confidence because trust me.. after the first couple days I was thinking what the heck I got myself into and how long I had to do this before I could atleast break even. Hahahha but obviously Im over that and I am absolutely loving it.

On a side note.. 9 days out of 10 I stay at The Walmart in Horseheads, NY. If you are passing through feel free to look for badlands truck #54.. if you catch me I'll treat you to a free meal. (There is a Buffalo wild wings and a Texas roadhouse in this parking lot so it won't be a bad meal.)

There is only 1 walmart in Horseheads... it ain't hard to find. Right off of route 17/ interstate 86 in New York. Remember... catch me and get a free meal. If you pass through and miss me... well your lose.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Interstate:

Commercial trade, business, movement of goods or money, or transportation from one state to another, regulated by the Federal Department Of Transportation (DOT).

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

This offer is good in the future to.. I stay at this walmart 90% of the time. It's right next to where I load most of the time. Super convenient.

On a complete different note I am pround of myself. My problem was the fuel filter went bad. And I changed it out by myself. To those of you this may not seem like that big of a deal.. especially if you have a mechanical background. But coming from me.. holy crap I know nothing about cars, trucks, engines and so on. So changing a fuel filter is a big thing. Not to mention how much money I saved my boss. Closest shop is 50 miles. So i saved all that fuel money and the cost of labor. Lucky they had the fuel filter at the napa up here. So i have now changed a fuel filter fixed 2 seperate coolant leaks and several issues with the trailer. Makes me proud of myself considering I really don't know much about engines..

If you have those Fuel filters with the clear plastic covers, then keep an eye on it during Pre/Post trips,,,, as the filter gets used up, the fuel level will keep climbing up to the change line. then you would have it changed before you stall out. Took me a while to figger out how those vertical filters worked, a standard filter would just keep working until all the filter holes clogged at once and you wouldn't have any warning.... The visual vertical filter starts clogging the holes from the bottom and going thru fresh holes as needed as the fuel level goes up... ( yes I'm also a Diesel mechanic and a rocket scientist) Dan

Yep.. definitely know that now. Unfortunately it took a break down and a lost day of pay to figure it out. O well. It's a learning experience!
