Mountain girl, i had the same problem with my trainer. More often than not he would tell me. Turn right, left, etc. Not leaving me to learn myself. It took its toll i think, since I've been on my own, a whopping three weeks lol, I've figured out more than i did while training. It's actually easy to focus on what your doing and ignore the guy staring you down As you are Backing into that spot. But I've found that a lot of truckers are very kool and understanding. I've been spotted without asking, given a thumbs up with smiles after i finish, and generally just great guys. Do what you have to do, if it takes fifteen minutes, so what. Better to do it right than in a hurry.

I had a delivery in Norcross GA a few weeks ago that gave me a little justice to a mouthy driver. At the security gate the guard gave me directions to the loading docks and warned me "this is a tough place to back up due to construction near the dock." So I proceed to the docks and take a minute to survey the area and figure out my maneuvers. The dock sits at the bottom of a U shaped building with no room to make a hard u turn to line up. Above the U is another building and the area you need to pull into to get your trailer far enough is where the construction equipment is blocking me.
As soon as I pull forward enough to start my maneuver a driver gets on the cb and says "oh God a prime truck is backing in watch your equipment boys." I say nothing and proceed to make my maneuvers and back in with only 1 pull up. Took me all of about 3 minutes. I immediately get on my radio and ask "you were saying about prime truck's?" Another driver after me gets on and says "how's that crow taste driver?" He never said another word.
