They're just another aerodynamic feature to increase MPG. They help to save a small percentage, but when you have a thousand trailers with them it adds up.
They don't really get in the way of the doors. Just when you have the doors open and you want to hook them to the side of your trailer you just have to push on the door harder. Nothing major.
The biggest thing with them is forgetting to close them when backing up. It's easy to forget them because you can't see the. and a preventable accident just waiting to happen if you don't commit to remembering what kind of trailer you have.
Makes sense like you stated having a fleet of trailers, and I'll bet there have been a few drivers that have forgotten about them

I have noticed lately more trailers with "trailer tails" connected to the rear door area, do these really help much? Looks like it would help the aerodynamics of the truck.....but possibly hinder the operation of the doors.
