First you must still compare everything from company to company. It does no good to take a bonus if the overall job pays much less.
The reality is the bonus is paid over time or milage goals that are met. Not that its a bad thing, just understand they will not cut you a check for $5000 on your first day.

The turnover in the trucking industry averages near 100% year after year and has for decades now. So companies are not only trying to recruit new drivers but they'd like to entice them to stay for a while. So companies will give some combination of sign-on bonuses, raises, and longevity bonuses if you'll stick around for a while. Each company will have different stipulations to receive them. Some will just be a check up front, some will divide it up and give you some up front and some a few months down the road, and others will tie in some sort of incentives like meeting certain mileage criteria.
In the end they're simply trying to attract more drivers and get them to stick around for a while.

I see it everywhere , companies trying to lure drivers in with the a sign on bonus .... can someone explain ? it seems to good to be true
