Went to doc monday morning to get script to control blood pressure. This doc also does dot physicals. I am trying to quit smoking as well and discussed the idea of chantix with him. He said it worked good and also said it was ok for a truck driver, and proceeded to write me a scipt for it as well. Did some research which led me no where. So i sent an email to swift and this was their responce. "Is an automatic "do not hire" drug....... " glad i did my homework.

Yeah, I looked into Chantix when I quit smoking, and decided it was a no-go. I don't like the idea of having my sleep disturbed by vivid dreams.

Also, the way it works is by messing with the dopamine receptors in your brain. It stops you from getting any pleasure from smoking or anything else. There have also been cases where people have become bipolar due to taking the drug, and it doesn't go away, even after stopping Chantix. Sure, that's maybe a one in a hundred chance, but it's not a chance I'm willing to take with my brain.

I have been free of cigs for over three years now with the use of electronic vaporizers for NRT. Sure, I'm still feeding a chemical addiction, but it's no more dangerous than squashing a caffeine craving. It just cuts out the tar and carcinogens.

I've also been able to cut down the amount of nicotine per drag by using lower strength liquids over time using this method. If you want to know more, PM me here. Always happy to help someone else kick the cig habit!

My ma has smoked her entire life. She quit smoking and has been using the e-cigs for a while now and loves em! Has nothing but great things to say about em.

I tried Chantix and let me tell you, it made my temper fuse go from quick to millisecond in a heartbeat. And I couldn't sleep because of the extremely vivid weird dreams. Couldn't do it. Be glad you didn't

I've never heard of the temper thing before, but I researched it just enough to decide that I might as well try to quit smoking by ingesting large amounts of LSD. I don't know why so many doctors are so happy to shove that stuff down smokers' throats.

Glad to hear that she found something that works! It's still not easy to quit, even with the e-cigs. she deserves a great big congratulations! :)
