Oh man, I really discourage you from trip planning like this. It just has disaster written all over it.
Nothing is more truck specific than your Atlas and the Rand McNally, Atlas being more specific. What happens when you get lost? You can't look at your laptop while driving but you can take a peak in your notebook.
I recommend you do it all on paper, and I'm sure everyone else will agree with me.
Write out your route on your notebook along with all your other load information, and if you need to refresh your memory on the route you don't have to stop you can just look down. You could also buy a laminated Atlas and highlight your routes on there with a non-permanent marker.

I carry a Rand McNally GPS and map book. Does anyone know if there is a website where you can download maps for your laptop? I carry my laptop with me everywhere and it would be easier to plan a trip on my laptop versus pulling out the trusty map. I know there is mapquest etc. but I want something more truck specific. Any thoughts are also appreciated....
