Hey Doc. It's pretty hard to catch a ride these days because the regulations are so tight. You have to have written permission for any passenger in the truck or DOT will shut you down and you'll almost certainly lose your job. But I know Schneider has offered ride-alongs for people interested in becoming truck drivers. I don't know if it's common or if it's something they only do once in a while but it's worth looking into.

Due to company policy as well as DOT most truckers won't pick up hitch tickets ,your best bet would be to stand near the exit if a truck stop and try to hitch hike that way
