Today, I went to the DPS in my personal vehicle with a classmate. We were there before they were open.

I studied very well with the material that we were given, but unfortunately, I failed the combos portion of the test. I feel really terrible about that because I know that I did not only let myself down, but I have let my family down as well. It hurts when you want to do well, and then you don't. I am studying today, but I don't really know how well I am going to do since I have 4 tests to take tomorrow. If I don't pass them, I will be one more week before I get to Corsicana. That means one week of sitting and doing nothing AND not getting paid. I also heard that the Swift Corsicana location will be closed for the entire week of Christmas, which is another week to sit with no money coming in. I understand, we all want to be with family. I understand taking off Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but the whole week? Just overwhelmed right now.

I would be lying to everyone, including myself if I were to say that I was happy with what has happened with/to me in the Swift program so far. I am really not happy. I tried to make an informed decision and this is not turning out like I thought it would. My recruiter has been listening to me, but I don't know that she can do much, to tell the truth.

I am praying and studying hard with the hopes of passing the 4 tests tomorrow, but to be honest, I don't know what my chances stand at. I have to go for now, I have to study combos, which I thought I had down, but didn't pass, general knowledge, which I have read several times, air brakes and pre-trip. Sorry if I am sounding like "sour grapes", I am not, I am just discouraged right now. I know that I am not doing something right, I just wish that I knew what that something was. :( ✍ Back to pencil on the paper and I will update tomorrow, whether it is good news or bad. If I don't pass tomorrow, I have to honestly make some decisions.

About my health, thankfully, I am feeling loads better, thank you all for your well wishes. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I only want to do well and make my family proud. Pepper

Just my opinion, but I passed Gen Knowledge, combination, doub/trip, tanker, air brakes & hazmat with no other training than the HRT program. I'm in school now (TDI) and I'd suggest the HRT program. Just keep taking the HRT test over and over and over and over and...you get the idea.

Also, if your state's test is computer based BIG TIP HERE; use the skip function if available. It likely (at least it does here in Florida) stops you once you have enough correct answers to pass. Thus, you don't freak out when you see you've missed 3 questions knowing you only have a couple left.

Good luck!

HAZMAT:

Hazardous Materials

Explosive, flammable, poisonous or otherwise potentially dangerous cargo. Large amounts of especially hazardous cargo are required to be placarded under HAZMAT regulations

OWI:

Operating While Intoxicated

Have a little faith in yourself and know that you can do this. Don't get yourself down because of one set back. This is how we learn . By our mistakes. Just know where you made your mistakes and concentrate on those area's. The one thing I have learned about studying and taking tests is I don't study real hard as to lose any sleep. Take vitamins to replenish your thinker and eat well. I like to study a few hours right before I go in to take the test that way everything is fresh in my mind. Just remember your 1st guess is usually the right guess if you have to guess lol. Anyways good luck to ya.. I am sure you'll be fine.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

I am doing the HRT right now, and it is doing a lot to lift my spirits. I am getting better scores and learning a lot more. I will be going to bed in a few minutes and going in tomorrow and doing my best. I will continue to keep everyone informed. Thanks for "listening" to me. Pepper
