What are the policies on this? If any?

Hi Lewis, I have been lurking on this site for months, although this us just my second post. From what I have read you won't be able to bring any rider with you until after you go solo. Make sure you find out each company's rider policy as you investigate them, because there are probably some that will be more restrictive than others. You can get started on that by going to the Trucking Companies area here on the site.

Anyway, best of luck in your career planning, Paul

Sorry we sort of missed this thread. You definitely won't be able to bring your wife with you to school.

Even if you could, I honestly think you wouldn't want to. You're going to be so overwhelmed with learning everything. A lot of school also don't have the room. They can only fit so many people inside a truck and they would rather take a student in a truck over her. Trust me, it's better without the spouse. You're going to have to learn to be apart so might as well start early. You for sure won't be able to be with your spouse during training either.

Once you start school, I wouldn't plan on seeing the spouse until you go solo. Depending on where you live, there's a chance you might drive through the house but it'll only be for an hour or two usually.

Unless your willing to pay for the hotel room yourself. Could be a little pricey, but she could at least be there when you go out of class and you could relax with her.

But I agree with Daniel, your gonna be super busy with class and by the end of the day so exhausted. Depending on the company your going with, you may not even go home tell after your training with a trainer. Such as with Prime. I do suggest letting her stay at home tell you get your own keys to your truck, then bring her with you.
