Is it always bad? I've delivered here three times so far and traffic has been bad every time. And good luck getting parking at a truck stop I showed up at flying J at 11:30 last Saturday in the afternoon and it was full. I slept on the side of a side road last night.

I'm starting to feel like you just can't find parking at any truck stop anywhere, ever. I've slept on a few ramps lately.

Every Major city has bad traffice. Unless your in NY or LA, thats 24/7 bad traffic..

Whats funny is Phoenix is home to about 20 trucking companies and all of the drivers go to the truck stops rather then terminals. I know when I was at Swift, I'd see tons of their drivers at the FJ off the 10. I went to the terminal. Has a Walmart next door =D

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Shortage of freight . . . everyone is waiting on a load . . . had two 34 hour resets in a week, myself . . .

FYI....winter is snowbird season in Phoenix, so traffic is heavier there in winter months. My wife and I were there on vacation in December and experienced some pretty heavy traffic. They just had a Super Bowl there too, so add for that too. After Spring Training is over, say late March, traffic will drop off dramatically. Until then, hope you can find safe places to park. I tried Walmart or shopping malls if there were no spots at a truck stop.
